11 best rides at Universal Studios Singapore for little kids (Under 7 yrs old)

A trip to Singapore is incomplete without a visit to Universal studios. Universal Studios Singapore is Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park. The first time I visited USS was in 2014. My daughter was just 3 years old. We were super excited for the trip but soon realised we were under prepared. My daughter hardly enjoyed any rides, it got super hot and we weren't ready for the long queues. After that, we must have visited USS at least 4 more times. Every time our experience has just got better, which lead me to write this blog. First let's start from the basics.

Pro-tips

  • Universal studios layout is in the shape of a circle. From the entrance turning left will take you towards Hollywood Zone and right towards New York. When entering Universal studio, check the wait time on the app for each ride and accordingly decide whether to take a left or a right.

  • There are some rides that are super popular. If you want to enjoy these rides, cover them first. Click here to see the highlight rides of USS

  • Personally I have never bought the express pass and still have been able to cover most of the rides in USS. The key is to reach early, queue up early and be amongst the first ones to enter the gate :). The day of visit can also be a deal breaker. Weekends, school holidays are almost always busy.

How to reach Universal Studio

Easiest and cheapest way to reach is via MRT
  • Reach Harbour front station which is on the North East line (NE1- Purple line) and on Circle line (CC29-Yellow line).

  • Take Exit B .

  • Walk towards Vivocity city mall 3rd floor

  • Take a ride on the Sentosa monorail

  • Alight at Waterfront station

  • Follow the signs and you will find yourself in front of the Universal Studios rotating globe.

Things to remember before your USS trip

Water bottles

Carry your water bottle. There are a lot of refilling stations spread across this theme park.

Sunscreen lotion, hat, sun glares

Have a high SPF sunscreen ready for application and re-application. Mind you it can get pretty hot and sunny in Singapore.

Umbrella / raincoat

Every time we have been to USS it has almost always rained. There are also some shops which sell basic raincoats.

Online booking

Please book your tickets online, else you will waste a considerable amount of time in front of the ticketing counter.

Download the Universal Studios Singapore app

This app will be a life and time saver when inside USS. This app comes with an in-built USS map that can guide you through this maze. Using this app, you can compare wait times and decide which rides to skip for the moment and which rides to take.

Express Pass

For extra $50/$80 you can get express entry pass. This pass allows you to skip the queue at the participating rides and shows! Plus, you can enter the park through a dedicated lane with Priority Access. Express passes can be bought at any merchandise store within the park or at their booths just before the entrance gates.
